Habitat is about volunteerism!

The backbone of Putnam Habitat for Humanity is summed up in one word:  volunteerism!

Without the generous time-contributions of hundreds of people in Putnam County there would be no way we could build affordable housing.  But volunteerism goes beyond homebuilding and critical home repairs; we are always grateful for the administrative support we get from people who give us several hours each week to help us keep our office running and those who help us keep our properties maintained.

The efforts of our volunteers mean that the greater portion of your contributions can go directly into buying materials for our homes.

“You think you’re helping other people, but you’re really benefiting yourself in personal growth. You find out a lot about who you are,” said a volunteer.

We encourage you to get started today and give a portion of your free time to be a Habitat Volunteer. In doing so you will be helping us make Putnam County and better place to live and work.

Saturday Build Days

Volunteers are needed for Saturday Builds while homes are under construction and we will work until the home is completed. Email: [email protected], or complete the form below, to get on our volunteer email list so you will receive notices of build days, and the type of work we will be conducting each Saturday.

A “Saturday Build” is a concerted effort of many. There are various areas of needs in addition to construction labor such as volunteer coordinators, donations of food for lunches, food prep and serving, funding, building supplies and materials. Donations and labor are especially needed on these projects to offset the cost of the building, to make it more affordable for our homeowners.

Putnam Habitat needs the support of community – churches, groups, organizations, individuals, and businesses are encouraged to help. If you can assist with Saturday Builds, please complete the form below to sign up!
